Bobby Knight Needs An Intervention…Like 20 Years Ago.

By now, most have heard of Bobby Knight including his grandson in the press conference after TT’s win against UTEP. Most of it is innocent, but there is some language that inexplicably has been cut by ESPN–even with the beep.

What’s up with that?

Substitute John Chaney here and what’s the result tomorrow morning?

Can’t wait to hear the apologists explain this one.

Yo, the cat Randy Culpepper can get up! He’s only 6 foot. Goodness.

  1. Mizzo,

I agree 100% The more things change, the more they stay the same.

  2. What’s the deal? For crying out loud, the kid would hear a lot worse than that listening to some rap music. Anything to jump on Bob’s back. I hear people saying a lot worse than that to their kids in stores every day. Jeez. What people really can’t stand is that he was tough. If he was so bad, how is it that 20+ years of players haven’t jumped on the bandwagon to trash him. Only a few cry babies complained because he didn’t pamper them.

    Grow up.

So it is acceptable for someone over young men, who is susposed to provide them with a good role model, and groom them into men to say, “I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it.” ? What about choking a student?

Is this the man you want coaching young men?

  4. Nah, I wouldn’t want my kid to play under Knight. But I get a major kick watching him brutalize the media.

  5. Susie I could give a damn about your comparisons to rap music–irrelevant in this context. He was straight foul here.

  6. KevDog,

Have you been checking out The Wire? If so, what do you think so far?

  7. Michelle

I’ve watched the first two episodes. I know they’re setting things up for major shit to hit the fan. And McNulty’s move last night was so damn outrageous! I loved it!

  8. Kevdog,

Yeah, I agree. Call me slow but initially I didn’t know what McNulty was doing. I figured it out after the show went off. I think the young kid Mike is going to either leave Marlo’s crew or turn on them. What do you think about that?

  9. At first I was going WTF is McNulty doing, then it hit me and his words-The game is rigged- hit me like a ton of bricks.

Michael surprised me and I was glad to see his response to the move they were about to make, and yeah, I think he and Marlo are gonna get into it with bad resilts for one of them. DO you remember when Marlo offered all the street boys money for school clothes and Michael tirned him down, remember how Michael stared him down and how Marlo recognized that Michael was a leader and his own man? yeah, shit will hit the fan baby.

  10. Kevdog,

Yeah I remember that. I definately think Mike is going to do something. I was surprised to see Wood’s character working with Marlo. He could be setting him up though. I can’t wait for next week. Looking forward to Omar’s return as well.

  11. Oh shit, that’s right. Omar’s gonna have to come back soon!

  12. Kevdog,

    You know it!

You people (especially DavidMac) are a joke. Yeah, like his 21-month old grandson even “heard” the two curse words, let alone remember it. And once again, here we have another sideline waterboy pulling out a 20-year old out-of-context quote and the “choking” of a student. Gimme a break. If you don’t want this man coaching your son, then you obviously are a pampering, whiney parent who thinks honest, tough, and demanding coaches who graduate their players are no good.

What a waste of internet space this is.

  14. John F you must be smoking something.

  15. Origin,
it must be the real good stuff too…..

  16. And origin & Miranda must be raising sons to be ballerinas.

  17. david your’e a f*king joke ans so is that asshole david mike smith over at aol, makding a bit deal about nothing, hell I’ve heard my grandparetns cuss and it didn’t affect me one way or the other, but you’ll hear worse in rock music too, not just rap music and yes this was a waste of a story just like that whole mike prince deal.
